We will pick you up from your hotel. Your journey begins at the magnificent Jumeirah mosque and continues along the Jumeirah beach road, which is the most luxurious urban area in Dubai. We pass in front of the Mercato themed shopping mall and stop for photographs at the Burj Al Arab (Arab Tower) hotel. We continue towards the Nad Al Sheeba camel and horse race tracks, where we can witness camels training. We then head along the skyscraper area of Sheikh Zayed Road, also referred to as little Manhattan, where we pass by the Emirates Towers and Dubai World Trade Center. Then we drive along the Zabeel road, passing by the palace of Sheikh Mohammed, as well as the Sheikh Rashid palace, (No photography).

We now head towards the Dubai creek, where we will stop for photographs of the creek side. We pass by the Al Bastakiya’s old-wind tower houses, which were built by the wealthy merchants of the past. Our next stop takes us to the historical Al Fahidi Fort, which has been converted into the Dubai Museum. The Museum is the 200 year-old restored Palace of Sheikh Saeed, which has important records of pearl diving and trading activities that went on. The tour takes us to the Abra station, where we will take an Abra (water ferry) to cross to the opposite side of the creek, as was done in the not so distant past. We then set out on foot as we navigate through the bustling alleys towards the spice and gold souks (markets) as you see insight of Dubai’s growth as a major trading center.

Cost : US$40 Per Person. Book Dubai City Tour Now Discounts available for groups. Contact us for details

Dubai Desert Safari Tour (Evening)

This tour operates Daily from 3:45PM to 10:00 PM Pickup from any location in Dubai or Sharjah is provided. The emirate is working hard to develop its tourism industry and to raise its profile around the globe, so if you're craving a relaxed sunshine break in what largely remains a tourism secret then visit ahead of the crowds.

Who goes there?

Well-heeled holidaymakers from around the globe are drawn to Ras Al Khaimah's luxurious resort hotels, its outsized air-conditioned shopping malls and the chance to get active in the emirate's natural environment. More mature visitors and families with younger children tend to visit between November and March when temperatures are cooler, ranging from 19-23ºC (64-73ºF) on average.

Where in the world?

One of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ras al Khaimah is located at the northern end of the UAE's Persian Gulf coast. It is 95km (62 miles) from Dubai, where the nearest airport is, and northeast of Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Sandwiched between the Hajar Mountains and the Arabian Gulf, Ras al Khaimah shares mountainous borders with Oman. It has a 40km- (27 mile-) coastline punctuated by golden sand beaches and tranquil lagoon.

Beach

When it comes to facilities and activities, the private beaches of Ras Al Khaimah's resort hotels are hard to beat. Diverse land-based activities include football and volleyball.

Beyond the beach

Myriad excursions can be organised through your resort hotel including 4-wheel desert safari and mountain drives, Ras Al Khaimah city tours, a trip to the camel races and swimming in the Khatt thermal springs. For something a little different join a guided one- or two-day mountain hike or take a dhow cruise to Oman's Musandam peninsula.

Family fun

For kids and big kids alike the attractions of Ras Al Khaimah are manifold, with hotels and resorts typically boasting swimming pools and private beaches, as well as a wealth of land- and sea-based activities. Dune bashing appeals to adventurous older children, while the Manar Mall (Al Gorm/Bridge Road) in Ras Al Khaimah city, with its multi-screen cinema to arcade games, has something to suit every family member.

Retail therapy

Boasting supermarkets, a multitude of shops, traditional souks and modern air-conditioned shopping malls, the city of Ras Al Khaimah is a shopper's paradise. The Emirate's premier shopping centre, the huge Manar Mall, is a great place for holidaymakers stock up on everything from children's wear and toys to jewellery, cosmetics and high street fashions. Here you'll find familiar high street names alongside designer gear and luxurious items from around the globe.

A night on the town

For visitors and locals alike the nightlife in this fledgling resort is centred in Ras Al Khaimah's luxurious resort hotels. Here holidaymakers can watch the belly dancers or smoke a shisha pipe, catch a live music performance, or simply enjoy a cocktail in a lounge bar. If you are after livelier nightlife some resort hotels have their own nightclubs.

Eating out

Like everything else in Ras Al Khaimah dining tends to be upscale, particularly in the evening when four- and five-star resort hotels pull out all the stops to offer romantic candlelit meals in Italian, Lebanese, international and seafood restaurants; for less formal dining during the day plump for pool bars and buffet restaurants. For a quick snack, Ras Al Khaimah's shopping malls are a good bet.

Getting around

Hotel shuttles and taxis are the easiest way of getting around Ras Al Khaimah city, with local tour operators running myriad excursions to destinations further afield. To get around under your own steam you'll need to hire a car from the car rental desk at your resort hotel. Holidaymakers should check in advance for current regulations regarding car hire for non-UAE residents.

Exploring further afield

The larger than life emirate of Dubai is just 95km (62 miles) from Ras Al Khaimah. Visit the resort's landmark sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, Dubai Creek and Jumeirah Mosque, absorb the sights and sounds of the city's souks, or join in the holiday fun at the sprawling Wonderland theme park (website: www.wonderlanduae.com).

Splashing out

Make the most of the watersports offered at Ras Al Khaimah's seaside resort hotels and splash out on the sailing or water-skiing lessons. Alternatively take a sunset boat trip and admire Ras Al Khaimah from the gulf, or indulge in a massage treatment at one of the emirate's hotel spas.

Flying in

Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Dubai

Introduction

There is nowhere quite like Dubai. In this unique resort destination nothing is impossible - they have built golf courses in the desert, opened the Gulf's first ski field, created the world's first 7-star hotel and, in the latest outlandish project, are now constructing ‘The World', a string of islands in the shape of the globe. Add in sweeping beaches, bath temperature waters and first-rate facilities and it is easy to see why Dubai has become such a popular destination over the last decade.

Who goes there?

Dubai is not really a party destination as such with its main visitors being couples and families. These tend to be from Western Europe with the months leading up to Christmas and just after very popular when the weather is at its best.

Where in the world?

The emirate of Dubai lies on the western shores of the Gulf in the Middle East. It is surrounded by various other emirates, which are also members of the United Arab Emirates. The country of Oman is to the east. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the nearest airport. The emirate spreads out from the warm waters of the Gulf across a flat plateau, with sweeping sand dune strewn deserts inland and the rugged mountains in the north and east on the border with Oman.

Beach

Dubai boasts a long stretch of Gulf coastline, much of it sprinkled with fine sand. The heart of the action is on Jumeirah Beach. This coastal strip is awash with luxury hotels, with many boasting their own corners of beach with all the usual facilities such as sun loungers and parasols. A range of watersports is also available. These are best arranged through your hotel.

Beyond the beach

The city of Dubai boasts plenty to see and do. You can take a cruise on a traditional dhow through the lifeblood Dubai Creek, visit one of the city's impressive mosques or just stroll around the older quarters taking in the sights and smells of this bustling urban centre. A cheap and cheerful way to see the city like a local is on one of the old abras, the small boats that charge a nominal fee to ferry you from one side of Dubai Creek to the other.

Family fun

Many of Dubai's hotels offer holidaymakers a range of things for their children to do, from kids clubs through to beach games. For adventurous children a 4-wheel drive into the deserts on an organised trip offers the chance to bounce up and down the sands ‘dune bashing'. These trips can include a camel ride and a Bedouin-style meal in a desert camp.

Retail therapy

Dubai is one of the best destinations in the world for shopping. Holidaymakers with money to burn can hit the duty-free shops at the airport, the city's maze of massive air-conditioned malls or the atmospheric old souks, which offer a very different retail experience right in the heart of the city. Good traditional buys include gold and silver jewellery, as well as exotic spices.

A night on the town

As a Muslim country the sale of alcohol is controlled, but holidaymakers can enjoy alcohol in many of the city's hotels, restaurants and clubs. For Western-style nightlife there are numerous choices in the city's hotels; for a local experience you can also smoke a shisha pipe or take tea at one of the centre's more authentic haunts.

Eating out

Diners in Dubai are spoilt for choice, as whatever your favourite food is the chances are it will be on offer here. The city's restaurants and hotels source top notch ingredients from around the world with very high standards across the board. For a more authentic local dining experience head into the city centre around the souks for small informal restaurants and street stalls.

Getting around

The area around Dubai Creek is easily explored on foot, but the rest of the emirate is very spread out, with Jumeirah Beach, where most of the hotels are, one long increasingly busy strip not pleasant for walking along. The city's bus system is reasonably efficient, though very much geared towards locals. Taxis and hire cars are a much better way of getting around and are handy for getting between hotels and restaurants as well as making day trips out of the city. The abras are useful for getting across the Creek if you are on foot.

Exploring further afield

Taking a day trip out to the Hajar Mountains is one of the most popular day trips in Dubai. A number of companies take holidaymakers out across the deserts towards the Omani border. One of the highlights of the trip is ‘wadi bashing' when the 4-wheel drive vehicles thump through the mountain water pools in a dramatic splash. Lunch is often included on these safari trips.

Splashing out

If you enjoy fine dining then make a beeline for Verre. (Hilton Dubai Creek, Beniyas Road) (website: www.gordonramsay.com/dubai) This is the chance to sample the cooking, or at least the cooking styles, of legendary Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay's first Asian venture has been a roaring success with the same top quality ingredients and creative cooking that made his British restaurants so popular.

Flying in

Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Abu Dhabi

Introduction

Basking on an island flanked by bath temperature Gulf waters and white sandy beaches the city of Abu Dhabi's resort credentials speak for themselves. Towering skyscrapers and expansive shopping malls stand alongside ornate mosques and bustling souks, as old Arabic traditions and the modern world collide, making Abu Dhabi even more appealing. Those who delve beyond the Emirate's vibrant capital are rewarded by a lengthy coastline, over 200 offshore islands, voluminous desert sand dunes and the vaulting Hajar Mountains; not forgetting the myriad attractions of the city of Al Ain. Most visitors, however, are more than content to get active in and around Abu Dhabi city, teeing off at a golf course, taking a traditional dhow cruise, or simply trying the smorgasbord of watersports offered by beach clubs, resorts and hotels.

Who goes there?

Business people from other Arab countries comprise the majority of visitors to Abu Dhabi, however an increasing number of savvy holidaymakers from Europe are turning to Abu Dhabi.

Where in the world?

Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It occupies a north central position in the UAE. The city of Abu Dhabi is 32km (20 miles) east of the airport.

The city of Abu Dhabi occupies a T-shaped island that protrudes into the Persian Gulf, as such it is surrounded by water. Beaches dot the city's coastline, which in turn are flanked by beach resort hotels and Abu Dhabi's commercial centre.

Beach

Whether you want to soak up the sun's rays, take a dip in the Persian Gulf or indulge in myriad watersports, including sailing, windsurfing and jet skiing, the best place to do this on one of the private stretches of beach that belong to Abu Dhabi's resort hotels. Public beaches are thin on the ground and typically don't have any facilities, although the busy Khalidiya Beach is a reasonable option.

Beyond the beach

Appreciate Abu Dhabi's dramatic setting as you amble along the striking Corniche. Admire the 19th century Qasr Al-Hosn Palace (Old Fort) and the triple-domed roof and minarets of the Grand Mosque, as well as the shimmering glass and steel skyscrapers that dominate the city's skyline. Take respite from the beating mid-summer sun in leafy landscaped parks, or air-conditioned shopping malls.

Family fun

Abu Dhabi's upmarket hotels were constructed with families firmly in mind. They typically have at least two swimming pools, as well as a host of water and land based recreational facilities. If you can drag the kids away from the pool, beach or tennis courts, hotels also boast child-friendly restaurants and babysitting services.

Retail therapy

Whether you want to haggle over the price of gold in a traditional souk (note that local custom dictates that you must buy anything that you have verbally agreed a price for), hunt down that perfect souvenir in a colourful bazaar, or pick up the latest designer fashions Abu Dhabi won't disappoint. For a stress free one-stop shopping trip make a beeline for one of the city's air-conditioned shopping centres, the biggest are Marina Mall (Corniche Road) (website: www.marinamall.ae) and Abu Dhabi Mall (Tourist Club Area) (website: www.abudhabi-mall.com).

A night on the town

For locals and visitors alike, Abu Dhabi's nightlife revolves around its hotels. Here you can enjoy live music, smoke fruit flavoured tobacco through a shisha pipe or watch belly dancers. Stylish hotel bars are also a good place to relax over a cocktail, beer or glass of wine. Livelier nightlife can be found in hotel nightclubs.

Eating out

Standards in hotel restaurants are universally high so you don't have to travel far to enjoy a good meal in Abu Dhabi. The variety in the hotel dining scene, with everything on offer from sandwiches and snacks to fine-dining French style, may mean that you don't feel compelled to eat elsewhere, however venturing into the city's restaurants is worthwhile even if it is just to sample local specialities like lamb, chicken or shawarma (similar to a doner kebab). As a general rule alcohol is only served in hotel restaurants.

Getting around

Abu Dhabi has a comprehensive local bus service, including the airport to the city centre route, which operates around the clock. Taxis, which can be caught at ranks or hailed on the street, provide an efficient way of getting around the city of Abu Dhabi itself. Cars can be hired from rental offices at the airport, in downtown Abu Dhabi and in hotels.

Exploring further afield

In an Emirate renowned for the height of its sand dunes, a dune-bashing trip in the Liwa Oasis should not be missed. Enjoy the thrill of careering through the dunes from the comfort of an air-conditioned 4-wheel drive, safe in the company of an experienced driver.

Splashing out

Make a lasting impression at Sevillo's in the Millennium Hotel (Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, also know as Third Street) (website: www.millenniumhotels.com). Locals and visitors flock to the terrace of this fine-dining Italian restaurant to lap up the stunning views of Abu Dhabi's skyline.

Flying in

Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH)

Qatar

Introduction

In recent years Qatar has thrust itself onto the world tourism stage, hosting the 2006 Asian Games, throwing gleaming skyscrapers up at a rapid rate and promoting the Emirate on a global stage. Today this once little known corner of the Middle East is attracting an ever-increasing number of savvy holidaymakers from around the world. Doha is at the heart of Qatar's fledgling tourist industry, luring visitors with its expansive bay, sandy beaches, warm waters, luxurious resort hotels and vast shopping malls. Holidaymakers who venture beyond the thriving capital are rewarded by arid desert complete with voluminous sand dunes, Bedouin tribes, historic forts, good beaches and the spectacular inland sea, Khor al-Adaid. With sweeping Gulf beaches on three sides, a wealth of watersports, a swathe of shops and traditional souks, a flurry of historic attractions and myriad opportunities for getting active in the desert Qatar caters to all tastes.

Who goes there?

Business people from other Arab countries make up the majority of visitors to Qatar, however an increasing number of holidaymakers from Europe are visiting the Emirate's resort hotels. More mature visitors and families with younger children tend to holiday between October and April when average temperatures are cooler, ranging from 17-29ºC (62-84ºF).

Where in the world?

Qatar occupies a peninsula that protrudes 160km (100 miles) from the east of Saudi Arabia into the Persian Gulf. Doha, the Qatari capital, is located on the central east coast of the Emirate. Doha International Airport is 5km (3 miles) outside the city. Qatar shares a land border with Saudi Arabia in the south and is flanked by the Persian Gulf on the other three sides. Doha overlooks the sea and is backed largely by flat desert plains.

Beach

Private stretches of pristine white sand, complete with parasols, sun-loungers, beach bars and myriad watersports are characteristic of Qatar's resort hotels. A number of properties also have dedicated beach clubs, where the focus is firmly on sun, sea and sand; holidaymakers might even be able to ride across the beach on a camel.

Beyond the beach

Doha impresses visitors with a skyline that seamlessly combines gleaming skyscrapers with more traditional architecture, including Doha Fort, Qatar National Museum and the Ethnographic Museum. Old traditions also thrive in the capital's souks, dhow harbour and fish market. A fitting way to finish off a day's sightseeing is with a stroll along Doha's attractive Corniche, which curves for 7km (4.5 miles) along the bay.

Family fun

With resort hotels that typically feature indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a private stretch of beach, family-friendly restaurants and a whole host of recreational activities, Qatar appeals to children and adults of all ages. If you can coax the children away from the resort then fun-filled excursions like dune bashing await. The Doha City Centre Mall (West Bay Area) with its multiplex cinema, ten-pin bowling, ice-skating rinks and water park is also great for families.

Retail therapy

An intoxicating blend of modern malls and traditional souks ensure that Doha really is a shopper's paradise. Holidaymakers can snare designer labels in gleaming shopping centres, traditional clothing in the Waqif Souk, aromatic spices from the eponymous Spice Souk, or 22 carat gold from the souk of the same name. Household items, colourful fabrics and traditional crafts can also be picked up in Doha's souks.

A night on the town

Qatar's nightlife is centred firmly in its resort hotels and members clubs. Ease yourself into the evening over a drink in one of myriad hotel lounge bars. After dinner holidaymakers can enjoy a digestif or smoke fruit flavoured tobacco in a traditional shisha pipe. Live music, cocktail lounges and lively nightclubs are also located in Qatar's hotels.

Eating out

Restrictions on the sale of alcohol mean that many holidaymakers content themselves to dine in their resort hotels. Hotel restaurants in Doha offer an eclectic range of national cuisines including Middle Eastern, French and Italian, not to mention themed nights. Less formal meals and snacks are available from hotel beach or pool bars, as well as buffet restaurants. To eat like a Qatari, however, you will have to venture beyond your resort. The Balhambar Restaurant (Doha Corniche) is a great place to try local dishes.

Getting around

For those without hire cars taxis are the most affordable way of getting around, these are orange and white and can be hailed or caught from ranks. Limousines are also widely available and many resort hotels have their own chauffeur driven cars. To explore beyond Doha, holidaymakers should also consider joining an organised tour.

Exploring further afield

The Khor Al-Adaid, or the Inland Sea, is one of Qatar's most appealing attractions. Join other holidaymakers on an organised excursion here and career down enormous sand dunes with an expert driver behind the wheel of your 4x4. Trips also typically include sand boarding and sample traditional Bedouin hospitality.

Splashing out

Book yourself an indulgent massage, mineral wrap, hydrotherapy treatment or soothing facial at one of Qatar's first class resort hotel spas. For that ultimate in pampering the spa at the Ritz-Carlton (West Bay Lagoon) (website: www.ritzcarlton.com) offers a variety of two hour packages, including those catering specifically to male holidaymakers.

Flying in

Doha International Airport (DOH)

Oman

Introduction

One of the Middle East's least explored countries, Oman, is a richly textured holiday destination that suits holidaymakers looking for something a little different. As well as eclectic layers of history it boasts famously friendly people, a sweep of dramatic scenery and coastline, and it is a land peppered with historic forts. Then there is the atmospheric capital of Muscat and the wild wadi water pools in the deserts that are great places for a swim on a sunny day, which Oman boasts regularly with its idyllic climate.

Who goes there?

With its warm and sunny climate Oman attracts mainly Western European travellers looking for a relaxed sun filled holiday. It also tends to be popular with holidaymakers looking for something a little different with its rich culture and fascinating traditional ways.

Where in the world?

Oman lies in a strategic position in the Middle East with the Arabian Gulf running up its eastern spine, before it follows the narrows into the Gulf of Oman. The latter connects with the Persian Gulf to the north.

The capital of Oman, Muscat, lies in the northeast while most of the towns and cities are dotted around the north and the coastline, with a spine of mountains spicing up the hinterland.

Beach

With its 1,700km coastline (1,056 miles) Oman offers a wealth of clean and attractive beaches. Some of the most popular holiday beaches include Qurum, Bandar Jissah and As-Sawadi. Even on hotel beaches holidaymakers should be aware of local sensibilities to avoid causing any offence, i.e. no topless bathing or very revealing swimwear. A variety of watersports are also available.

Beyond the beach

The capital city of Muscat is a captivating place to visit on a day trip. Unlike some of the other ultra modern cities in the region Muscat is alive with history and holidaymakers can enjoy a city that builds a bridge between various worlds. The city also boasts numerous parks and impressive mosques, as well as great value shopping.

Family fun

Wadi Shab is one of the most attractive water pools in the country and ideal for families. Supervised children can frolic in the natural pools cooling off on a hot day in this desert oasis. ‘Dune Bashing' trips are also great fun with a number of companies taking holidaymakers out on 4X4 wheel drive trips that hurl up and down the voluminous dunes. The country's beaches are also very popular with families.

Retail therapy

The capital of Muscat is the shopping hub of the country, a real oasis for holidaymakers looking for a spot of retail therapy. As well as the more modern air conditioned shops there are also much more atmospheric traditional souks where it feels like the 20th century, let alone the 21st, is yet to dawn. Some of the better hotels also have shops that are handy for essential items and the odd souvenir, which includes rugs and paintings of the Omani landscapes.

A night on the town

Oman is quite a traditional country so wild nightlife is not its speciality. Tourists are usually allowed to drink in their hotels and dedicated restaurants. The bars in the hotels vary from quiet café-type venues, through to British theme pubs and clubs with dancefloors, something unheard of only a decade or so ago. Outside of the hotels nightlife consists of eating out or enjoying a tea or coffee in the traditional tea or coffee houses.

Eating out

Many holidaymakers choose to dine within their hotels, mainly due to convenience but also because of the often high standards of the international cuisine, with something for all palates. Outside of the hotels there are traditional restaurants and food stalls where a wide variety of local specialities can be enjoyed, such as grilled seafood and spicy lamb dishes.

Getting around

The best way of getting around is by bus, with a network servicing most parts of the country. There are also some limited domestic flights, which can save time on multi-centre holidays. Car hire is a good option if you want to explore at your own pace. You'll need a 4X4 for mountains and rural areas, but a normal car is fine for resorts and cities.

Exploring further afield

Just across the border is the United Arab Emirate of Dubai. This popular destination has developed in recent years beyond all recognition. The deserts have many of the same charms as Oman's with wadi and dune bashing trips, while the actual city offers boat cruises, first class duty-free shopping, atmospheric souks and the wide sweep of Jumeirah Beach. Dubai's restaurants also span the world in terms of choice with all major global cuisines on offer in venues that range from casual street stalls through to classy restaurants run by Michelin star winning chefs.

Splashing out

Head to the escape of the Al Bustan Palace (Muttrah, 114 Oman) (website: www.ichotelsgroup.com). This luxury hotel near the capital boasts an impressive range of eating and drinking venues, including one eatery that sits out on the beach. The hotel can also arrange a variety of watersports for holidaymakers who are not staying at the hotel.

Flying in

Seeb International Airport (MCT)

Yemen Travel Guide

Yemen has established itself as a tourist destination, attracting travellers with its striking scenery and spectacular Islamic and pre-Islamic architecture. Yemen boasts hugely varied landscapes, from magnificent mountains to lush fruit-growing valleys to semi-arid plains and wide sandy beaches. The towns and cities hide souks and spice markets, mosques and ancient city walls.

To the Romans, Yemen was Arabia Felix, whose mountains and fertile areas distinguished it from the barren desert of the rest of the Arabian peninsula. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Yemen came into the seventh century under the influence of Islam. It remained within the orbit of various regional powers until, in the 15th century, it became a flashpoint in the struggle between the Egyptians and the Ottoman Empire. During the early 17th and early 19th centuries, the struggle for control was between the Europeans and the Ottomans. Split in two by political and civil warfare throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s, Yemen was finally reunited in 1990 under Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The country is home to numerous significant archaeological sites, while adventure travellers can enjoy camping and trekking in the unique Socotra archipelago, which counts over 270 endemic species among its enormous range of wildlife and plant life

United Arab Emirates Travel Guide

From the timeless tranquillity of the desert to the lively bustle of the souk, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) offers a kaleidoscope of attractions for visitors. In recent years, the country has rocketed to the forefront of the international tourism stakes.

Dubai has led the way with phenomenal investment in opulent hotels and infrastructure and is now firmly established as one of the world's top short break and holiday destinations. But Abu Dhabi is also developing fast, helped by its new airline, Etihad, and several other emirates are following suit.

The space age image of the UAE's modern cities is in marked contrast to its comparatively recent past prior to the advent of the oil industry, when these seven sheikdoms were a sleepy backwater reliant on fishing and pearls.

Abu Dhabi City is a modern and sleek city, filled with skyscrapers. The UAE's capital, located on an island connected to the mainland by two bridges, is increasingly developing visitor attractions. And dazzling Dubai is a tourism honeypot, with superb shopping and rich cultural life.

The UAE is a federation of seven states (emirates) - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaiwain - formed in 1971 after independence from Britain.

Syrian Arab Republic Travel Guide

The Syrian Arab Republic revels in its antiquity, having been inhabited for tens of thousands of years - and in the variation and cultural riches that such antiquity has brought it. This is a country that preserves scores of relics documenting the rise and fall of different civilisations, and which continues to welcome such diversity.

Syria was once regarded as a frontier region, bordered to the east by the Arabs and Persians. The Persian invasions were repulsed but Syria eventually fell to the Muslims in the mid-seventh century. From then on, Syria was to be firmly part of the Muslim world, although retaining Christian and Jewish populations. Muslim control of Syria was vital to the defeat of the Christians and their expulsion from Jerusalem. Even when the terrifying force of the 13th century Mongols was unleashed on Syria, their massive Hulagu army was eventually defeated at the Battle of Goliath’s Well – a victory that, in retrospect, must be seen as one of the world’s most decisive military engagements, preventing both the Muslim world – and the Christian one – from certain doom.

Today, Syria's Islamic identity is as central to the country as its Arab roots. Such doctrine over-spilled into Arab nationalism in the 1950s - indeed, Nasser’s revolution in Egypt prompted Syria to join Egypt in the United Arab Republic. However, the alliance was short-lived, Syria seceding in 1961 to form the Syrian Arab Republic. Since then, Syria has been ruled at the head of a tightly controlled dictatorship. Even when General Hafez al-Assad of the Ba’ath Party (or Arab Socialist Renaissance) died in 2000, and his son Bashar assumed headship, Western hopes that the country would pursue a more pro-Western line proved misguided – in the vocabulary of the US Bush administration, the Syrian Arab Republic is a ‘state of concern’ (one level below the ‘axis of evil’).

Although Syria pulled its forces out of Lebanon in 2005 after being implicated by a UN report for the assassination of former Lebanese premier, Rafik Hariri (Syrian troops have remained there ever since the 1973 Arab-Israeli war, in a (successful) attempt to prevent the expansion of Israel, and to counterbalance Israeli military might in the region), relations with numerous Western states remains fragile.

In short, the Syrian Arab Republic's long history is littered with dramatic episodes, from being subsumed into past empires (Babylonians, Canaanites, Assyrians, Phoenicians, and so on) to more recent events, such as Napoleon’s campaign in 1799/1800, the Egyptian invasion in the 1830s and the insurrection in 1860-61. However, such battles and scrambles over territory have translated into a catalogue of staggering cities full of stunning monuments, from the entire city of Damascus to the country's many mosques. The events have also failed to impair the character of the Syrian people who – surprisingly to some – exude friendliness and warmth, and are justly proud of their land.

Saudi Arabia Travel Guide

There is a veil hung over Saudi Arabia that distorts the reality that resides behind it. Lift the veil, however, and you will find that many conceptions of Saudi Arabia are misconceptions. It is a country with many areas of beautiful oases and dramatic mountain-tops, beaches and rivers. Its cities, although having no nightlife, do have plenty of cafes and restaurants. There are also shops galore, from the souk to the huge department store. Indeed, Saudi Arabia's major cities are generally very modern, with amenities of a high standard.

In the year AD622, Prophet Muhammad launched a successful campaign to recapture Mecca from the Persians, who had made it a province of their empire. Afterwards, the Muslims would continue their expansion across the Arabian peninsula and into Syria, Mesopotamia (Iraq), Persia, and westwards into Egypt and North Africa.

As the birthplace of Muhammad, Saudi Arabia contains the holiest cities of Islam. The Saudis take the responsibility for protecting the integrity of this holy land with utmost seriousness, and Islamic laws are strictly enforced by the mutawwa (religious police).

To the non-Islamic eye, Saudi Arabia also succeeds in being beautiful and praiseworthy. This complex country is likely to remain a significant part of the worldwide map for some time.

Palestinian National Authority Travel Guide

With everything from fertile river plains to scrubby desert, from Mediterranean olive groves to liberal sprinklings of historical sites, Palestine seems to have it all. Sadly, war and intifadas mean this contested territory is badly damaged and for now the ancient secrets and mysteries of this fascinating place may only be unlocked and enjoyed by its warm inhabitants and a few brave, some might say foolhardy, travellers.

Travel Warning: Travellers should be aware that the political situation in the Palestinian National Authority is extremely volatile. It is a hotly contested area where gun fights and violence between the Israeli Defence Force, Fatah militia and Hamas militia are unpredictable and not infrequent. Some areas, notably beaches in the Gaza Strip, are mined. Law and order are not reliably enforced and kidnappings of foreign nationals are not uncommon. The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises caution when travelling in Jerusalem and against all travel to the Gaza Strip where the threat of kidnap is especially high. All but essential travel to the West Bank is advised against.

Lebanon Travel Guide

Lebanon's diverse patchwork of Mediterranean-lapped coast, rugged alpine peaks and green, fertile valleys is packed into a parcel of land some 225km (140 miles) long and 46km (29 miles) wide.

Once known as the ‘Paris of the East', Beirut commands a magnificent position, thrust into the Mediterranean. Behind the city are towering mountains, visible when the traffic haze settles down. The Corniche seafront boasts beaches, restaurants, theatres and a dazzling variety of shops and restaurants.

Beirut suffered greatly from Lebanon's 16-year civil war, but following an impressive and ongoing process of reconstruction, the city was poised to become one of the most popular tourist and business destinations in the Middle East before the Israeli attacks of 2006.

Outside of the capital, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites await, many of which reflect the country's various ancient civilizations. Phoenician tombs, Roman temples, Crusader castles and Mamlouk mosques can be found in the cities and ruins of Baalbeck, Byblos and Tyre. The town of Aanjar in the Bekaa Valley contains an Umayyad site from the 8th century - a unique historical example of a commercial centre that was inland. Within the mountainous interior of the Kadisha Valley, ancient monasteries and churches can be seen, including a chapel built into the rock face.

Kuwait Travel Guide

Kuwait consitutes a puzzling but intriguing mix of Western liberalism and strict Islam. The capital, Kuwait City, is a bustling metropolis full of the high-rise buildings and luxury hotels. Yet the country is also host to elaborate and opulent mosques and palaces, and its religion is an integral part of its affairs.

This juxtaposition perhaps stems from Kuwait's marrying of Islamism with oil-wealth, mostly traded with Western superpowers. Upon independence from Britain in 1961, Sheikh Abdullah assumed head of state, adopting the title of Emir. The large revenues from oil production allowed independent Kuwait to build up its economic infrastructure and institute educational and social welfare programmes.

In the early 1990s, the emir established a National Assembly (Majlis), which placed limits on the power of the ruling family. Since then, the national assembly has clashed several times with the emir and the cabinet (which is still dominated by the al-Sabah family) over misuse of state funds and poor management of the all-important oil industry. Underlying these disputes is the growing impression that the ageing and increasingly infirm al-Sabah clan is no longer capable of running the country. However, they continue to dominate Kuwaiti policies.

Surrounded by three major Middle Eastern powers, the main threat to the country came from the renewal of Iraqi territorial claims over Kuwait (along with the overdue repayment of some US$40-60 billion on the part of Iraq), which led to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The Kuwaitis later recovered their country by virtue of a US-led, UN-backed multinational military force.

After a period of euphoria, the Kuwaitis had to address a number of difficult questions; the future security of the country was dealt with by the signing of defence and security pacts with the USA, the UK and Kuwait’s Gulf allies. More recently, Kuwait was one of the first countries to join Operation Iraqi Freedom following the US-led war against Iraq, and provided aid and support during Iraq's (ongoing) process of reconstruction.

Iraq Travel Guide

The media depiction of Iraq is of a place where humanity is found at its most ugly; a land of violent insurgency, kidnappings and religious intolerance and extremism. Yet this is also where humanity at its most tremendous once lived.

The core of modern Iraq was Mesopotamia, at the heart of the Sumerian, Babylonian and Assyrian empires between the seventh century BC and AD100. Many great civilisations were cradled in often verdant arms here - amidst huge and unforgiving desert terrain snakes stupendous rivers such as the Euphrates and Tigris. This country supposedly contained the glorious Garden of Eden and Babylon's bountiful Hanging Gardens.

Ancient Baghdad was a focal point of learning, a major stop along the Silk Road. The museums of Iraq were once testament to these cultural learnings, crammed with astonishing artefacts and relics, but sadly many of these were damaged or looted following the conflict.

However, Iraq has been blighted by resurgent conflict: from the Arab Caliphate to Mongols, and from the Timur Empire to the Ottoman Empire. In 1920, the Hashemite Amir Faisal ibn Hussain was proclaimed king; independence came in 1932. In 1958, the Hashemite Dynasty disintegrated via murder and coup. Iraq’s final coup in recent history came in 1968, bringing the Ba’ath Party to power.

In 1979, Saddam Hussein became president and party leader of the Ba’ath Party. Iraqis hoped to resolve a long-running territorial dispute with Iran over the Shatt al-Arab waterway, and a full-scale invasion of Iran was launched in 1980. The war degenerated into one of attrition, lasting until 1988, when the two exhausted nations sued for peace.

Despite minor territorial gains, the Iraqi economy was crippled and incurred an enormous foreign debt, mainly owed to neighbouring Kuwait. Insistent Kuwaiti demands for repayment, Iraq’s historical claim over Kuwaiti territory, and a dispute over oil reserves provided the main pretext for the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The US-led response to the invasion, with firm backing from the UN, ensured that Iraq suffered a massive defeat. The Iraqi regime was seriously threatened by armed opposition elements among the Shia of southern Iraq and the Kurds in the north. However, the superior firepower of Iraqi troops and the Western refusal to provide effective backing for the rebels resisted this.

Thereafter, the USA and others used several means to constrain Iraq, such as a complete trade embargo - excepting a strictly controlled regimen of oil sales with which the Iraqi government could buy food and medicine. Arguably, ordinary Iraqis were worst hit by such sanctions. A few years later, the USA would lead the war against Iraq that has generated such fiercely mixed reactions, from relief that Hussein's brutal regime was toppled, to anger at the alleged existence of weapons of mass destruction and Hussein's alleged connections with Al-Qaeda.

With time, it is hoped the shackles of war will be dismantled, and Iraq shall pave itself a future as grand as was its past.

Note: Iraq continues to undergo a period of transition following the end of the US-led war against Saddam Hussein's regime in March/April 2003. Most of the country's political, social, physical and economic infrastructures have, by and large, been destroyed and need to be rebuilt, are in the process of being so, or have only just initiated recovery. As a result of the uncertain situation, some of the information in this guide cannot be relied upon. All travel to Iraq is ill-advised and visas are currently only being issued to aid workers, jourmalists and certain business people. Many of those destinations include Paris, Tokyo, and London. As nice as these places are to visit, there are many other areas of the world that are popular to vacation at. One of those areas includes the Middle East. If you are interested in visiting Bahrain, namely the Manama area, you will find beautiful resorts, amazing shopping centers, and just about anything else that you are looking for. If you make the decision to visit that area of the Middle East, you will likely fly into the Bahrain International Airport.

The Bahrain International Airport is serviced by over thirty different airlines. Some of those airlines include British Airways, Egypt Air, Gulf Air, and Mahan Air. Unfortunately, you will find that it is almost impossible to get a flight from the United States to this popular Middle East airport. That does not mean that you will not be able to visit the area, it just means that you will have to find a connecting flight at another international airport. Since you will still be arriving and maybe even taking off from the Bahrain International Airport it is advised that you familiarize yourself with the airport and everything that it has to offer.

When travelling to another country, you will need to exchange your money for currencies that are accepted. As soon as you arrive at the Bahrain International Airport, you should be able to do this. There are numerous money exchange centers, as well as full service banks, and ATM machines. All of these financial establishments or machines are scattered throughout the airport; therefore, whether you are coming or going, you should be able to exchange money or withdraw money from your account.

Although the air travel rules for Bahrain International Airport are difficult to find and learn about, it doesn't necessarily mean that they do not exist. As with air travel in most other countries, you will find that you are prohibited from bring dangerous and explosive materials aboard an airplane. You will also need to take into account the country in which you are coming from or going to. For example, like the United States, the United Kingdom also has a carryon ban on all liquids. This means that if you are coming to Bahrain International Airport from there, you will likely be prohibited from bring a beverage onboard, as well as other liquid beauty supplies or large amounts of liquid medication.

The Bahrain International Airport is well known for the services and features that it provides travellers with, many of which were mentioned above, but there one thing that the Bahrain International Airport offers that is unique, especially when compared to other international airports. That feature is premium check-in. Premium check in is available to all premium class passengers, which is sort of like being a first class passenger in the United States. Premium class passengers are checked in a peaceful space that is away from the rest of the airport. If you are able to afford a premium class ticket, you are advised to do so; the experience is one that you will likely never forget.

By Uchenna Ani Okoye

Things To See On Your Holidays In Bahrain

Described as the Middle East light, Bahrain is a country that mixes modern infrastructure with the identity of the Gulf. This country is known to be a Muslim country but is considered as one of the more liberal ones after it allowed its citizens the freedom to choose their religion. It is one of the few countries wherein you would see a mosque having a Catholic church or a Hindu temple as its neighbour.

Known to be the location of the Biblical Garden of Eden, it was known in ancient times by the name of Dilmun. With over eight million visitors a year, Bahrain truly has some of the best tourist attractions in the world. Thanks to the country's love for their heritage, Bahrain has preserved the oldest and most historical places.

This kingdom combines Arab culture Gulf glitz and the archaeological legacy of five thousand years of civilization. First, let me introduce to you the places you could visit during your stay here.

Qalat Al Bahrain, is a castle that has been listed down by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is composed of an artificial mound created by human inhabitants from 2300 BC up to the 1700's and was once known as the capital of the ancient Dilmun.

If you are into biology, or to be more specific, in botany the best place for you to visit is the Tree of Life. This tree is a 400-year old mesquite tree considered as a natural wonder. The tree stands alone in the desert about 1.2 kilometres away from Jebel Dukhan and where the tree gets the water to live that long is a complete mystery.

If you were wondering how people knew about oil in the Persian Gulf, then the first oil well in Bahrain might answer your question. Way back on the 16th of October 1931, the well began to spurt out oil and on the morning of June 2, 1932, it expelled a lot of oil which has been mined ever since.

Just like any modernized country in the world, Bahrain has its share of malls and markets. With the combination of tradition and a touch of modernity, you will surely love the market place of Manama Souq.. Located in the heart of the city, near Bab Al Bahrain the market is really not that difficult to find, though if you ever get lost, find a noisy crowded place and you are definitely there.

Touring Bahrain can be a wonderful adventure, and if you get a little hungry, go for the best Bahrain delicacy experience at Cico's Restaurant. This restaurant is an award winning restaurant so expect the best dining experience Bahrain can offer.

So, still wondering what places in the world to visit? Start with Bahrain! This country has a lot to offer whether you are a Muslim, a Catholic, a Hindu, a Jehovah, or a Buddhist. Bahrain to this day remains a member of the Arab League and Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. Bahrain has mild winters and very hot, humid summers. Bahrain is a generally flat and arid archipelago, consisting of a low desert plain rising gently to a low central escarpment, in the Persian Gulf, east of Saudi Arabia. Bahrain offered a new location at the centre of the booming Persian Gulf with a large educated indigenous workforce and sound fiscal regulations.

Bahrain assesses heavy fines on visitors who fail to depart Bahrain at the end of their authorized stay. Bahrain has history dating back 5000 years, from the ancient Dilmun period through the Islamic era. Bahrain does not recognize dual nationality, except for citizens of countries belonging to the Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia).

Bahrain has become one of the Persian Gulf's most advanced economies and most progressive political systems since gaining its independence from Great Britain in 1971. Historical records referred to Bahrain with names such as the "Life of Eternity", "Paradise", and Eden. For most of that period, they resorted to governing Bahrain indirectly, either through Hormuz or through local Sunni Arab clans, such as the Huwala. On 11-12 November 2005, Bahrain hosted the Forum for the Future bringing together leaders from the Middle East and G8 countries to discuss political and economic reform in the region.

Environmental issues facing Bahrain include desertification resulting from the degradation of limited arable land and coastal degradation (damage to coastlines, coral reefs, and sea vegetation) resulting from oil spills and other discharges from large tankers, oil refineries, and distribution stations. Another language spoken by some of the local inhabitants of Bahrain is a dialect of Persian which has been heavily influenced by Arabic.

An Afghan invasion of Iran at the beginning of the eighteenth century resulted in the near collapse of the Safavid state, and the resultant power vacuum saw Oman invade Bahrain in 1717, ending over a hundred years of Persian hegemony.

By Gordon Warre

Living in Bahrain

The Kingdom of Bahrain basks in the warm, clear and calm waters of the Persian Gulf and is an incredibly prosperous and multi cultural country becoming increasingly popular with professional expatriates seeking well paying employment in a low taxation country where the standard of living in Bahrain is incredibly high and the local people are liberal and tolerant towards other cultures.

Bahrain manages to maintain a relatively neutral foreign policy and because of its general liberalism it's a great place for Western expatriates to experience a totally new life abroad. These facts mean that the number of international citizens living in Bahrain has increased substantially in recent years and directly contributed to the fact that Bahrain now has the fastest growing economy in the Arab world.

For anyone considering living in Bahrain this article is an introduction to the country, the entry requirements and to living and working in Bahrain.

Citizens of all nations other than Gulf Cooperation Council countries require a visa to enter Bahrain with the majority of those moving to live in the Kingdom being sponsored for their visa by their employer. The range of visas available is vast with much depending on whether the applicant has a job offer, is a spouse or dependent of an employed person in Bahrain, the country the individual heralds from etc., and therefore those considering travelling to Bahrain should initially contact their nearest Bahraini embassy or visit the Kingdom of Bahrain's Ministry of Interior website to find out which visa they should apply for and how to go about the application process.

The capital city of the Kingdom of Bahrain is Manama and most expatriates live in and around the capital and work in one of the Kingdom's main industries which are petroleum production and processing, IT, telecommunications, hospitality, medicine or banking. As a result of the popularity of the location, property for sale and rent in Manama is offered at a premium and those moving to work in Bahrain on a firm job offer should try and negotiate some money towards their housing as part of their overall remuneration package.

Unlike in some other Arab nations foreigners are permitted to own property in Bahrain and because the economy of the nation is so strong many see investment into property in Bahrain as a solid move to make. However for those keen on living in Bahrain the first step to take is to secure a job offer and then to rent housing while settling into the Kingdom and ensuring it is right for them before committing to the purchase of immovable property assets that can be slow to liquidate should the individual in question decide to leave the Kingdom.

Finally it's worth noting that the standard of living enjoyed by westerners living in Bahrain is incredibly high. As stated Bahrain is a prosperous country and one offering residents and visitors alike a cosmopolitan destination with exciting nightlife and incredible shopping! Hence it is of no surprise whatsoever that the number of international expatriates moving to the Kingdom ever year is on the increase.

By Riahnnon Williamson

Bahrain Travel Guide

Bahrain is an archipelago of 33 islands. The country was once named Dilmun by ancient Sumerians, considered an island paradise in which there was no disease, death or suffering, and where gods resided. Although modern Bahrain has not retained such mythical status, many still flock to frolic in its heavenly shoreline, and many still perceive the country as blissful respite from less lenient Islamic countries.

However, Bahrain is still imbued with Islamic tradition. Manama, the capital, is jam-packed with majestic mosques and minarets. Some females dress in western-style clothing but immodesty is still frowned upon. It is a symbolic bridge that connects the archipelago to Saudi Arabia's mainland.

Nevertheless, Bahrain is a wealthy country that has been unafraid to distinguish itself from other Islamic Gulf countries. Under Portuguese rule between 1521 and 1622, attacked by various tribes and groups for more than 100 years, and willingly becoming a British Protectorate between 1861 and 1971, Bahrain was ecstatic when it discovered oil in 1931. In just four decades, Bahrain's protectorate status was relinquished and Bahrain became one of the world’s most affluent countries. Bahrain's first independent ruler, Sheikh Isa al-Khalifa, caused controversy by bolstering Bahrain's relationship with western countries: both British and US military forces were granted use of Bahraini ports and airfields, vital to the prosecution of the two Iraq wars and the 2002 Afghan war.

Despite the Islamic presence, about one-third of Bahrain's population are foreign expatriates who seek that ideal blend of stability and prosperity. Perhaps this influence has shaped modern Bahrain, now rapidly modernising, full of shopping malls and restaurants. Many argue, however, that the supposed liberal outlook of the country is a sham: alcohol and casinos cannot disguise that the country is an absolute monarchy in which dissent is barely tolerated.

Regardless, visitors to Bahrain are more likely to want to revel in its antiquity, anyway. During construction of Bahrain's causeway, thousands of burial mounds were disinterred, dating back to the third millennium BC. Bahrain is now the proud owner of the largest ancient necropolis in the world, and its foundations still rest upon the ancient city of Dilmun and the ancient civilisation that resided there.

It is exactly this blend of eastern and western cultures, this commingling of mosque and skyscraper, which draws so many to Bahrain. Perhaps its famous Tree of Life (a verdant tree blooming out of arid desert) says it all: Bahrain is full of surprises and contradictions.

Dubai

Dubai holidays offer some of the finest hotels in the Middle East. From the fortresses of Jadrin to the souks of Muttrah, Oman is a country of exotic mysticism. The name meant "The Sacred Land" or "The Land of Life", possibly referring to the phenomenon of sweet water springs that made the main island an oasis in contrast to the hot, dry environments of the neighbouring Arabian mainland. It is believed that the intermingling of these springs with the salty sea water is responsible for the unique beauty of Bahrain’s natural pearls. Pearl diving has been in Bahrain’s heritage for thousands of years, and it is these same ideal diving conditions that attract divers today.

Manama, Bahrain’s capital, has a modern centre, but traditional life can still be easily found. Visit the souk in central Manama, and take in all the colours, sounds and aromas of the array of herbs and spices on offer. All wares are sold, including Arabic gold and jewellery, with goldsmiths still continuing their craft using traditional methods. Dhows (fishing boats) continue to be built on the outskirts of the city.

A relaxed lifestyle, year round fine weather and plenty of varied attractions, allowing you to spend your holiday being as active or as idle as you choose, make Bahrain a great introduction to the Gulf.

Atlantis Resort The Cove

Overview

‘Stylish, Contemporary, Sensual’

Inspired by the beautiful surroundings of beach, surf and ocean the sleek design using natural woods creates a relaxed and dynamic ambience. Whatever you want from a restaurant Abu Dhabi is pretty much guaranteed to be able to provide you with your wish.

Italian lovers should head to Bice pronounced bee-chay, at the Hilton International Hotel. Bice is a far cry from the cheap pizza and pasta cafes that pop up in most cities. Booking is normally essential and this restaurant not only has its own bar, outside the restaurant for you to wait for other members of your group, but it also has a well stocked wine room, for you to choose the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Fish Lovers in Abu Dhabi really have to toss a coin to decide between Finz, the fabulous new restaurant at the Beach Rotana Hotel and The Fish Market at the newly upgraded Intercontinental Hotel. Both restaurants offer some great dishes. The Fish Market as the name suggests allows you to choose from the best of the days catch and then decide upon which cooking style you prefer. Finz not only has one the Abu Dhabi's most elegant restaurants but a menu to match.

If you are dining out on a Friday lunch time, then a worth consideration is definitely the Al Fanar rotating restaurant at Le Royal Meridien. Take in the vista of the city whilst sipping champagne, choosing from local dishes or a full cooked English breakfast. The Jazz Bar behind Hemingways Pub at the Hilton International Hotel, is not just for a late night drink. The food served here is some of the best in the city, and eating here will also allow you to bag one of the best tables in the room. If the evening temperature is perfect why not dine out at Talay at the far end of the Village at the Meridien Hotel. Delicate Thai Food specially prepared to your order. Be sure to ask for a table outside if the weather is cool enough.

Abu Dhabi Hilton

By E Wrigley

The Abu Dhabi Hilton International Hotel is popular with visitors, locals and expats alike. Boasting a fabulous location on the edge of the corniche the Abu Dhabi Hilton manages to mix Luxury Beach Hotel with Contemporary City Life.

The Abu Dhabi Hilton has one of the most popular Beach Clubs on the island. Expats love the traditional style Hemingways Bar, Romantic couples love to sip a glass of champagne or their favourite cocktail at the late night Jazz bar. One of the Hilton's most popular places to dine is Vascos which is situated just at the entrance to the Hiltonia Beach club. A pretty garden makes this a beautiful place to dine out-of-doors during the cooler evenings.

Without a doubt the jewel in the crown at the Abu Dhabi Hilton is the newly opened BiCE restaurant.
